These are screws and work as described. There are two crazy people in the package. One has a round stud at the top and goes all the way to the left where the air conditioner and engine mount slide through. Another unusual screw has a threaded stud and mounts just to the right of the button head screw. This is only used for vehicles with California emissions. The bracket for the air check valve is attached to this. If you forget to use it at this point, it doesn't matter. In fact, the check valve does not have to be screwed. The rounded one MUST be replaced if the bracket is fitted to your vehicle type. (mine was Rendezvous 2002)
