This tool pulled all 16 valves out of my Toyota 2.2 head in 22 minutes. I pulled the holders out of the tool for a long time. I used a small brush handle to remove the holders from the tool. Not sure yet how the installation will go but the last time I worked on a head was 20 years ago and I borrowed an AC clamping tool from a friend. What a pain that tool was. I watched a video on YouTube after ordering. I used a 2lb hammerless hammer and simply pushed the tool against the top of the spring holder to remove the black coil and each one came loose with one quick hit. Again, I haven't fitted them yet as the lapping paste hasn't arrived yet, but I still have a lot of cleaning work to do. So I put the head back together and this tool is amazing. Only one hit per spring was required to reset the retainers. The trick, in my opinion at least, is to apply moderate downward force with the tool and then, while maintaining that pressure, land a good hit with the hammer. I will post a video on YouTube
