I bought this item thinking that I would crush all our jars and then save them to take to a local recycling company and get some money back. When it arrived in the mail I was excited and ready to use it. My husband fixed it to the wall and I started my own can crushing business. Most of the cans he tried to crush were 12-ounce Coke cans. After a few minutes I realized I made a huge mistake ordering this product. Banks were sometimes difficult to crush and required a lot of 'ump'. Admittedly, some banks fail more easily than others. A few cans flew out of the crusher in the midst of the crush and flew halfway across the kitchen. The glasses have very sharp edges, which can be very dangerous. I know all cans are sharp once crushed, so this isn't a problem I've had. My problem is that there are no safety measures on the crusher to prevent the glass from flying out. I ran my manual can crusher for about three months until the screws on the sides of the handle became loose and started falling out. In the end, these were no longer screws, but nails. All the grooves were sanded from all the cans I've shredded. The handle was lost and we sealed it with tape. It's been a month since I ordered this item and I no longer have it. I threw it away because it came loose; So it was a wobbly and sharp grenade launcher with no handle. I will not buy it again. I spent $10 more than the price of this item and got an automatic can grinder with a safety cover and I would suggest you get something else.
