Our group used this template to make cute things from scrap boards. Would buy again if I could find more herb names. These letters weren't too big, a disadvantage of other stencils I've found. Some have used unpainted cedar slats, while others have unfinished pine covered in fall-toned paint. Before applying the stencil I covered both layers with several layers of transparent to improve the result. Used black or white stencil word paint with a very small stencil brush. My favorite combination was the black stencils on cedar, but all of the combinations were great. The words with the thinnest letters stenciled well - example: thyme, but the wider letters - example: parsley came out a little in blobs. The differences in width were small but significant for the quality of the final product. So I downgraded the stencils from 5 to 4 for that reason alone. All in all a great product in a hard to find genre.
