Perfect if you ask me!

Just received this controller and couldn't wait to try it out. I haven't owned or used an official Xbox One controller, but I have used official Xbox 360 controllers and clones. Still, I can't make an honest comparison to the official controller, although I'm sure it's probably better because it it is official. I mostly play on PC and some games work best with a controller. So I used the Asus gamepad, which was good in itself, but its battery cover broke and I couldn't use it anymore. In comparison, Asus used a Playstation-style joystick layout, but everything else was pretty much a copy of the Xbox 360. The problem, however, was that for use with Windows, you need a separate driver from Asus to reach the gamepad register me as Gamepad 360 and Steam seemed a bit confused in one game, forcing me to reconfigure it. Although this controller definitely looks very identical to the Xbox One controller I've seen. And that quality is definitely there. This is not a cheap feeling and very strong. It also has a good weight, which only increases with built-in batteries (2x AA which are not included), which feels even in the hands. All buttons and triggers work as expected, and there are no issues with joysticks either. The D-Pad and buttons "click" but are responsive. Over time, when everything in it collapses, some may fall off completely. But for me it's not a problem. It has vibration motors, and they also seem to be high quality with a nice smooth rumble, not those cheap ones that just feel like rocks tumbling in your controller. In addition, it has a nice texture on the back, very similar to PS4 controllers, for a comfortable grip. Connecting is easy as it uses Bluetooth and uses the official Xbox One drivers so no additional steps are required to make it work on Windows. I have yet to do some testing with Linux (Linux Mint) as I was able to get the Asus gamepad to work on some builds, but on later builds Asus had trouble connecting to Linux Mint. Now that it uses real Xbox One drivers I don't think there will be many problems getting it to work with Linux Mint. I'll have to test this further in the future. It has an expansion port on the bottom along with a headphone jack. I don't have any wired headphones to try out the jack since I use Bluetooth headphones, but I don't see why that wouldn't work given how well everything else has worked so far. The expansion port can be used for a keyboard which I plan to get in the near future as it is ideal for PC gaming with a gamepad when a keyboard is also needed. On the top you have a sync button for Xbox consoles and a micro USB port. . Micro USB cable not included. Which is called the charging port in the little guide that came with the controller. So I'm not sure if it will charge your batteries if you're using rechargeable batteries as I'm currently using a regular alkaline battery. I'm also not sure if you can run a controller connected to a PC or Xbox via a USB cable without batteries, so again this is a future test. All in all though, this controller is very good and definitely an upgrade for the Asus gamepad. Whether you're looking for an Xbox One controller or just want a handy controller that's easy to plug in, this is for you. This controller will definitely come in handy!
