there is no difference between left and right.
No difference between left and right plate. This works in both the left and right toilet. I have 6 of these toilets, both left hand and right hand. The cartridges can still be used by simply rotating the platter 180 degrees and then removing and reinserting the top latch so that it slides in the opposite direction.
