The reason I wanted to buy this lamp was to place it behind my computer so as not to strain my eyes. It has a small profile so it doesn't stick out and it serves that purpose very well. He's also got a really good weight. I also wanted to use it with my LED smart bulbs. I hooked up a Cree smart lightbulb that I wanted to use with it. My intention was to leave the lamp on all the time and use the smart bulb itself to turn it on and off. I don't really know why, but when I used this smart bulb with this lamp, the bulb buzzed quite loudly. I have no problem using the lamp on other lamps. Instead, I had to use a large, frosted LED bulb. So if your intentions were similar to mine, this may not work for you. I'm keeping the lamp because it's still a good device, but it doesn't seem to work with all types of lamps.
