I'm pleasantly surprised by this outstanding projector - I expected more from a child's toy but the features, build quality and light output make it suitable for a wider audience. The first surprise is how small it is - only about 6.5 inches in diameter. Judging by the description I was expecting it to be bigger, but this is a compact device. It's blue plastic with "galactic" printed on it a bit blurry. You will buy it mainly for the lighting effects and I hope the pictures and videos show the quality and range of what is possible - you can get only green laser stars (either static or fading) or stars + "ocean wave" effect. or just waves. For waves, you can use just red, green, blue, or white, or a combination of these. The effect on your ceiling is clear and bright - with 3 different levels of brightness. Placed in the center of a medium-sized bedroom (about 2 or 3 feet off the floor), it covers the ceiling and extends down the walls, but loses focus as it gets lower. It also worked well outside under a pergola canopy. The laser is very bright - be careful with small children. There is a laser warning (class 2) but it is on the bottom of the device - it should be more visible. The included speaker isn't very loud, but the ability to play music via Bluetooth is a nice feature. There is also a USB port so you can load music or whale sounds onto a USB stick for full immersion in 'nature'! including extra colors and brightness, but to be honest it's a bit of a hassle, you have to create an account, mess around with Wi-Fi, etc. I wasn't worried after the first try. Thankfully, you don't need an app to use this - you can get up and running in minutes without an app, and you still get a good range of features just using the remote - might be useful for younger kids. without a cell phone. A potential downside is the short USB cable (about 4 feet), which can make it difficult to place in the middle of the room, but it's easy enough to buy a longer one - it's USB A to USB C.
