I inherited my first extension cord from a company I worked for about 10 years ago. I just found his layout works so well. It is still small and compact like a power strip, but the arrangement of the sockets in 4 different levels and in different orientations allows for a very flexible connection of standard plugs and transformers. With a splitter, you often can't use all the sockets because if you connect a transformer to one, the others will be blocked. This allows you to plug the transformer in one plane or one orientation and it won't block other outlets. To do something similar with extension cords, they spaced out the sockets, making them less compact. It's simple and just works. After that first one, I probably bought half a dozen of these. This is definitely my go-to surge protector/stretcher when I need to use a mix of standard cords and transformers. The 90 degree plug on the wall opening also makes it easy to connect to tables and furniture. If they could create a new version with a few USB ports, that would be almost perfect. That's the only thing he's missing.
