I bought this helmet to replace my Bell Star that fell on the ground in an accident. The Bell was my second helmet in a few months because just before I fell to the ground with another. Bell helmets are great and I love the security of the MIPS system, but only getting a few weeks off on $600+ helmets sucks. I've used Scorpion in the past and love it. I wanted to save a few bucks but not buy a cheap helmet. Everything I bought had to have emergency stop cheek pads in order for them to be used in my racing series. The R1 Air tested all the boxes for a few hundred less than other helmets. In addition, it includes pin-lock stands and an internal fog shield that you can install if you wish. When I took it out of the box, I was very surprised at how light this helmet is. I compared it to my Bell Race Star teammates carbon fiber helmet and the weight was very similar. It's also much lighter than my previous Bell Star. I was very surprised at how much this light weight affected the ride. The weight difference is always noticeable. The fit is also very good. Add inflatable cheek pads and it's not only a great premium ultralight helmet, it's exceptional value for money. A hundred less than others, you get a very light pin lock helmet with an inner visor, a clear and tinted visor, emergency release cheek pads and inflated cheek pads. Add to this that the helmet is homologated for Moto GP and you know that it meets all the safety requirements of the highest level of motorcycle racing in the world.
