Not suitable for all applications
I placed the sensor in the unprotected shed where my tools are. Then I made the mistake of placing the receiver/alarm clock in my bedroom. Big mistake because every time the cat entered the area the alarm clock woke me up from my bed! I placed the sensor 4 feet off the ground hoping it would only work if a person entered. But it wasn't there. So I'd say this thing would be useful in a secure area where the animals can't get in, or in a retail store to alert the clerk to a customer who's just arrived. for my application I turned it off
