We use it as a street detector. I don't trust hotel smoke detector testing and many of them either don't have carbon monoxide detectors or are too far apart. This allows us to have it in the room when we stay in hotels, Airbnb or at home. We also took it on a plane (with batteries) to travel internationally. There weren't any false alarms, which is great (tests are fine) as that could happen if the kid was sleeping in the same spot as him and us, which we did. We want it to work when there's a real emergency, but not to wake our child otherwise. It turned out great and quite compact. I leave the batteries on the health page and had no trouble hitting the test button while driving. In any case, highly recommended to travel with peace of mind.
