not used in the end. Resistance to turning seemed relatively high

I originally wanted to use this for a new table I made for my Delta 11-990 drill press. (See attached picture). The new table rested on a handle (note that the handle is usually next to the drill stand) which I used to lower or raise the drill table. As a result, I couldn't turn the knob all the way. The strategy was to move the handle to the front of the drill press table so it was out of the way. I've seen several YouTube videos on how to do this. For this I needed these gears to change the direction of the shaft by 90 degrees. When I attempted this, I encountered what appeared to be great resistance. I concluded that the 90 degree change in direction added quite a bit of drag. So I ended up not using gears. In the attached image, I simply continued to extend the shaft to the right edge of the drill press table and did the same. Without changing the direction of the shaft, I could easily rotate the shaft to lower or raise the table. The gears took a 14mm shaft and were fairly accurate. My shaft was 1/2" (sourced from Lowes) so just under 14mm of the ID of the gears. Also, these gears have a slot for the key, so for my purposes the set screws that came with the gears (the ones on the key pressed) too short (because I didn't have a key and because the set screw had to come from to axis 1/2" I had to go to my local hardware store to get longer M5 set screws. I won't be returning these gears but will do them keeping for a possible future project.. A 14mm shaft would have been better (I used a Lowes 1/2" shaft as it was much cheaper and much longer.) Note that these intermeshing gears are designed for keying serve (key does not come with gears) I used 2 layers of gorilla tape wrapped around the 1/2" stem to help center the stem to grip and the 14mm clutch shown in the picture .
