USB 3.0 adoption has been slow compared to previous USB versions. The reason for this is not clear, but one of it could be that many USB use cases other than backup are often satisfactorily handled by USB 2.0. (That's a little annoying for those of us used to putting up with replacing flawless devices with new ones that support the new standard). Price, size, number of connections and external power supply make this device stand out. It's small enough to conveniently carry in your carry-on, and its quad-port support makes it a great addition to your laptop's extra USB ports. (Wouldn't it be great if the iPad had USB, would it?) I have two USB 3 devices that I tested and they worked fine (no benchmark). It would be nice if the power supply was smaller (by Apple standards), but it's a compromise worth making.
