I worked in construction for many years and changed toilet parts many times. These are usually the insides of most toilets. I ordered 3 to replace the guts of all the toilets in my house. Since then, none worked properly - each had their own problem. In the first toilet, the valve does not close completely, resulting in a small trickle and filling the toilet every few hours. Another toilet, sometimes the float doesn't set the fill level and the tank doesn't fill up after flushing. Remove the lid and giggle with the float and it will last for weeks before you need to use it again. In the last toilet, sometimes the shut-off valve does not work and the toilet continues to work after flushing. To do this, turn off the water supply to the toilet and dismantle the inlet valve. Not sure about sediment buildup and interfering with proper waterproofing? This never happened with my old parts. I wipe the fill valve seal about every 4 or 5 months. Overall I'm not sure why I'm having so many problems - I can only put this down to lots of crappy plastic repair kits. I've been using this brand for many years but these from Revain have only given me problems.
