My son had a pair of Nikes with the laces being too long (8-10 inches for some reason). This tube was great for making new shoelace/aglet tips. We cut a 1/2 inch piece of tubing, slipped it over the existing end of the lace and lowered it into the desired location. We used the flame of a kitchen lighter very close to the whistle to push it onto the cord. Then we cut off the extra tip and burn the new tip a little. Looks the same as the original factory lanyard.
