This tool was with me almost every time I went out on the water and when I forgot it I always regretted not remembering it. Its compact size, design (it's not just a branded nail clipper) and ease of use make it indispensable. At the same time, the version I had with a small LED backlight needs some design refinements. The switch (at least for me) slides too easily. Even hanging from a loop on a shirt or just in a pocket, it seemed like a casual touch would be enough to put it on and I didn't notice. This caused the battery to drain very quickly and eventually die. Which leads to the next shortcoming β the battery compartment cover. A fall onto a gravel bar caused the hull cover to detach. I found it, put everything back together, and the LED still worked, but that wasn't a reassuring sign. I've made sure it's sealed every time since, but one day at work I had a SNIP in my coat pocket and it fell about 3 feet to the concrete floor. The lid of the hull came off and was never seen again. Shortly thereafter, the instrument also disappeared. I plan to buy another one, but most likely it will be without LED.
