Review on 🔒 Wayne WSS30VN: Upgraded Combination 1/2 HP and 12-Volt Battery Back Up System in Black - Efficient Solution for Added Security and Reliability by Otto Suarez

Our Wayne WSS30V was installed in mid-May 2018 and recently found the unit was running constantly and not pumping out the water in our sump. The water had a very strong oily odor and was brown/oily. I called support and they said it sounded like the seal was broken and told me to remove the unit, take a picture of it, answer the questionnaire, attach a copy of the receipt and email it back to order get the return label. . As soon as I send the failed motor back, they will determine why it failed. Not sure how long this process will take, but I am now hoping that the backup pump on this broken unit can function during this time and keep up with the spring thaw. I'll update this review once this issue is resolved, but so far I'm not happy with these results. **UPDATE March 20, 2019** Support was very quick to respond to emails while we were resolving this issue. I had to jump through some tires but got a replacement pump about a week after they got the damaged motor. I'm currently giving 3 stars due to good customer service, but I'm still disappointed with the first pump. **UPDATE 02/15/2020** We have returned home from a trip out of town and encountered the same issue as a year ago. The cesspool is filled with hot, oily water and the back-up alarm sounds intermittently. MISTAKE #2! This is the second failure of this pump and we have an average of about a year before failure. For now I'd advise staying away from Wayne drain pumps and I'm not even sure I'd want to install a replacement from this company. Of course this happened on a Saturday and their opening hours are Mon, so fingers crossed there is no water in the basement now. I can't wait to jump through all the tires I made last year to replace him. Obviously poor quality crankcase engines. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Wayne pumps if you are looking for a RELIABLE crankcase motor!
