Yesterday I installed a DORMAN 748-745 (BMW passenger side motorized window regulator replacement) on a 2002 E46 M3. The set seems to be good. The quality was significantly worse than the OEM controller. A number of brackets/bolts were made from plastic instead of cast aluminum. However, the controller now makes an unpleasant grinding noise during operation. Upon inspection, I noticed that the noise is made when the cable is pulled over those STARP METAL TABS next to the pulleys. I contacted Dorman and they responded quickly. They said they should act as cable guides. Dorman explained, "These are guides to keep the cable level with the reel. The edge shouldn't be that sharp. Maybe you could take a hammer, punch and notch. Edge or a pair of pliers to roll up the edge a bit? Unfortunately, you'll have to get a new one under warranty."
