For almost 10 years, we have been served by magnificent and quiet Gislaved NF3, but the time and mileage of more than 55,000 km, as well as heels of punctures, two side cuts have done their job. Rubber hardened, cracked, the wheels became impossible to balance. But! Each wheel was missing no more than 15-20 spikes, and the wheels still rowed perfectly in snow and ice. And on the 3rd day I changed them to brand new Cordiant Snow Cross 185/65 R14. And immediately went to the country. Over the past 4 days, I managed to test them in different weather conditions: at +3 on wet asphalt they drive and slow down predictably (taking into account the speed, of course. speed found some sensitivity to the track, again expected. Puddles pass without noticeable resistance and loss of speed, in contrast to NF3, which means that water is well and quickly removed from the contact patch. At +2 on the track on snowy porridge they go well and brake well. On packed snow, they accelerate without slipping at all, hold the road well at speeds up to 60 km / h and slow down. On clear ice, they just go and just slow down. They go where I want and stop where I need. Yes, the ABS often works and helps to slow down in corners, and turn when braking. A very respectable behaviour. And finally, dry and slightly snow-covered asphalt at -20 and -25. And again, all is well, at a reasonable speed of course. The price of all this is also "worthy" - a lot of noise, and after 90 km / h a strong hum and a "barking" effect (the sound volume seems to pulsate). The sound is like in the cabin of an AN 140 or ATP 72 turboprop aircraft. You can get from home to work around the city without problems, but long-distance trips of more than 2 - 3 hours are tiring. I even turned off the music so as not to force my ears.
