You really do get what you pay for

The old adage says 'you get what you pay for' and that rule seems to apply here too. I installed 6 of these in my 2003 Escape in July 2015. After 16,000 miles, in September 2016, they gave me problems and I had to replace them again. I was lured to them because of the price, all 6 are the same price as 1 branded unit. Initially my car misfired and the code was read so after researching I concluded that this was my problem (my Escape still had the original coils). After the installation in 2015, my machine worked perfectly and gave me no problems. However, in September 2016, it suddenly started intermittent again. In fact, the misfires were a lot worse than the first time I replaced them. I checked the code, cylinder number 3 (obviously the cylinder on the back of the engine which is hard to reach). I took it to the store and made ($110). This time I replaced all 3 at the rear of the engine (cylinder #1-2-3) with Auto Zone Duralast coils. They're $60 apiece, but they have a lifetime warranty, so I don't spend money on parts for them anymore. I wanted to replace them in the rear cylinders as they are very difficult to access. The front cylinders (#4-5-6) are very easy to swap out. I will use these cheaper ones for these cylinders when they fail. My recommendation from their recommendation is that if you don't plan on keeping your car for no more than 12-15 months, it's fine. However, if you plan on using your car longer, I would recommend buying something more durable; At least for the rear cylinders. That would be good for the front cylinders as they are easy to replace. Don't get me wrong, I knew these coils wouldn't last long when I replaced them last year; I've been waiting for them to fail, so my expectations weren't overblown. I feel like I got my dollar value as they lasted about 15 months. However, looking back, I would like to replace the rear cylinders with something more durable. When doing this work, also make sure to replace the spark plugs.
