It works fine for me! - Portable AV

This player came in a plastic tray which I had to cut open but it was fine. It was in perfect condition and arrived in less than 24 hours with my Prime subscription. Of course, the included headphones are a joke not meant to be used. You should just save money and NOT include this junk. I also bought the JBud J4 in-ear headphones which are impressive! The player plays well. Seems tender. The battery compartment with 2aa batteries is actually inside where you place the drive. It's not bad, but as another reviewer mentioned, the door is VERY fragile. It seems that if you are not careful, it or the spring in the battery compartment would break. I would also be careful when removing the disc from the spindle. I barely moved him other than he slid into my chair and stopped briefly but got up with the anti-skip, right where he was when he slipped, he didn't hit the ground. I don't plan on taking it out of the house as I only needed it to play some discs that can't be transferred to a computer or to MP3, so it will only stay by my bedside for bedtime music and not go somewhere I can't speak for backpacks. The instructions state that you can lock the controls, which is a sliding flat lever on the back of the device. It shows a small padlock on the display when it's on. It's not fancy, it doesn't play MP3s, but it does have a software feature to play specific tracks. I just wanted a basic player as I have a fancy MP3 player for other things. It's simple and very easy to use for problematic technologies. I absolutely love the sound in my headphones and my husband agreed as he is a musician and composer who plays guitar and piano. He said the frequency in the player might be a factor, so it's not just the headphones I have that make it an acceptable player. I like different EQ settings for rock, pop and surround sound and I can tell the difference. I've been listening to jazz with a lot of sax and horn and it sounded nice and clean for the bass and treble. So, in general, the player is acceptable for normal use with no running, heavy use, or breakage. I will update if it breaks next week! So far, so good.
