BEST HIKING BOOTS

Last month I went to the Roan Highlands in North Carolina with my Merrell Blaze Eros which are great water hiking boots but were failing on rocky mountain hikes because my ankles were spinning and curling up like crazy, so I knew I needed more support. I have a couple of Columbias but they were stiff and just didn't fit. These Merrels matched my Blaze in color and style, so I took the plunge and bought them. I literally couldn't keep silent about these boots the whole trip. As you can see my friend was wearing trainers and I had to go ahead of him to let him know if anything was muddy or wet, he wasn't a happy camper (literally) and I'll buy him some Merrells for our next hike. . I spent 2 days and about 15 miles in the Blue Ridge Mountains, following Sam Knob Mountain and Flat Laurel Creek so these boots saw it all. There was a lot of dirt, rocks, climbs and water on this trail. These boots weathered everything like a champ including full submersion in mud and streams and they stayed completely dry and looking brand new, I was blown away. The insoles are too thin and hard for my liking so I replaced them with Vomii memory foam insoles and those were bee knees. The support is there, the grip is there, the style is there and they're instantly comfortable. At the end of the hike, my ankle hurt a bit, but that's normal when breaking in new boots, especially when hiking such rough and rocky terrain. I usually wear a 9-9.5 but I listened to the reviews and got a 10 and I'm glad I did because anything smaller would be tight, especially around the toe, especially since I am wearing them with thick Darn socks from Tough. I love these boots so much I couldn't stop admiring them and said that the first thing I will do when I get home is to write a review about them. Thank you Merrell for making the best walking shoes and best of all they cost a lot less than the salewas I was planning to buy.
