Before purchasing and installing this power strip, I had to crawl on the floor under my desk (on my stomach or back) to locate an open outlet when needed to plug in another device which has an AC/DC converter box or a USB cable. This socket is such a minimal size and can be mounted on the left or right side or behind my desk. I chose the side as the back of my desk was cluttered with monitor and laptop mounting brackets with devices like speakers and KVM switches. or pointed forks to gouge or scratch the table surface. The round disk underneath is made of hardened plastic, not metal, so I was careful not to over-tighten or break this element. The round foam pad with adhesive backing is designed to be placed under the table top so that the round disc rests on top. The length of the cable and the shape of the plug is not an issue, it is long enough even for my standing desk at its maximum height. The cord also has a built in wall and angle plug so it can be placed behind a closet without blocking another outlet.
