For those who are curious, the 1.5" clutch inner diameter is 1.916" when fully released. Which I think is too big for a nominal 1.5" OD tube. I just about managed to get it against a 1.5" OD tube without breaking the clamping mechanism and it had a lot little power reserve. I used this for a dust fitting on a miter saw. Maybe I just don't realize that nominal sizes are large in the plumbing industry, but I was expecting the clutch for this product could be made a quarter inch smaller. Considering Assuming that a 1.5" size would be between 1.25 and 1.75", I double checked and the part clearly stated 1 1/2". Otherwise it looks like a quality coupler. The Rubber walls are 0.2 inch thick and the stainless steel cocking mechanism is well built.
