Clear Duck versus Clear Gorilla

Conclusion: Both bands are useful. Clear Gorilla Tape works better and costs more. These clear repair tapes are similar to Mylar packing tapes except they have elastic. I used clear duck tape and clear gorilla tape to attach the light strips to my car. Both held up well on glass and paint. On vinyl, Gorilla tape gave twice the peel strength. On the most difficult low-energy plastic surface (polyethylene I think, but maybe polypropylene) only Gorilla tape sticks. I rode it through torrential rain, then four days of rain, with occasional bouts of hot Texas sun. . Then I drove home, a few hours at freeway speed. Both Clear Duck and Clear Gorilla Tape survive. They started shedding but didn't start flapping in 70 mph winds. Both left traces that had to be cleaned up. Summary: Clear Duck Tape works well on light-colored surfaces such as metal. For hard-to-stick surfaces like low-energy plastic, pay extra for Gorilla Clear Tape and don't expect it to stick forever.
