My husband assembled this for our 4 year old for Christmas. It all started off quite well, although he did notice that parts of the instructions were a bit vague and didn't match what they actually looked like. When reassembling, he mentioned that almost all the screws had snapped off. When it was finally built he attempted to furnish it with the accompanying furniture and other furniture we had purchased. He tried the garage door and found that the frame of the house, or the groove that the garage door opens into, was uneven. He pushed it into the groove but pulled it out with difficulty, scratching the paint on the door. When he finally got it out again, he tried to unscrew the frame of the house and see if he could straighten the somewhat flimsy frame, but to no avail; everything was smooth and even. In the end he had to grind down the groove so the door would slide in and out easily without friction. Turning on the light, he noticed that they were poorly designed; They are magnetically suspended from the interior ceiling, but they are very weak magnets and the light is easily knocked off at the slightest bump in the house. As he opened the curtains, he heard a crack and stopped. The design was simple: push and twist, but even applying light pressure to the lampshades all but one cracked (because he was only pressing where the lampshade barely hangs). Our daughter still loves the house but for the price we expected a little more from Hape as we have bought many of their products without too much trouble.
