Review on Hunter Low Profile IV Indoor Ceiling Fan, 42-inch, New Bronze by Jessica Silva

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Wrong model and specs advertised but attractive fan

The fan is attractive, although I was surprised by the size of the case - just over 30cm across. I'm not sure if the bracket was bent or if my ceiling is uneven, but one side was flush with the ceiling and the other side was about ¼ inch clear. I wasn't too worried about the break as I didn't think I would notice. My biggest complaint is the incorrect information on the listing. The main reason I chose this fan was the low profile at 7.5 inches, which is correct - add another inch just for the end cap under the blades. The model is listed as a "Low Profile III" but is actually a "Low Profile IV". The CFM is listed as 2902 but it's actually 2353. I looked up the specs on other sites but thought it might have a different CFM rating as it's listed as III not IV. Airflow is adequate, but I would have preferred a higher CFM rating; I don't think I'll ever take it off the "high" setting as I like a lot of air movement. It's very quiet and the low profile allowed me to use it in my home office with a 7ft ceiling. We added a remote control as well as a Minka Aire light kit (it was the lowest profile I could find) by drilling a hole in the fan end cap. I decided to use the "old oak" side of the blades rather than the "wine country" side. Anyone over 6ft needs to tread carefully in this space, but I'm happy with the look.
