Beware of using an inverter generator with this surge protector filter as you may need an alternator connector plug

Surge protector installed on our 2021 Northwoods Nash 24M road trailer and camped with shore services for the first time and it worked perfectly. I then prepared a dry camping trailer for the next hike. So when I got home before leaving I ran my Champion 4500w dual fuel inverter generator in the trailer to make sure everything was working properly. To my surprise, the surge protector was showing open ground the whole time and I couldn't figure out why. So I bought a 600 watt power outlet for camp to temporarily tether my trailer directly to a 30 amp outlet. Then when we got home I did a lot of research and discovered that some inverter generator manufacturers have a floating ground which the surge protector sees as a problem and is preventing the trailer from connecting to the mains. So the industry came up with a workaround: a generator connector plug that connects neutral and ground and plugs them together into the generator's 120-volt outlet so the surge protector doesn't detect a ground fault. I'm by no means an electrician and I don't condone bypassing safety features, but this was the only way I could get my generator to power my trailer. Long story short I bought a plug, plugged it into one of my 120 volt outlets, put the surge protector back in line with the trailer and the generator powered the trailer with no problem. Lesson learned!
