The problem is that the original washer was FLAT (no o-ring) and fit into a very shallow flat groove with a tiny lip that marked the 90th Β° angles of flat washer edges. The product I received is an o-ring seal. The rounded edges of the o-ring do not dig into the flat edge of the groove, they simply fold over and cover the edge. After an hour of trying, each time ending with a larger leak, I determined that these o-rings are NOT a compatible flat washer replacement for the GE Smartwater GXWH08C whole house water filter.
