I have just received and assembled this item. Back then I paid more to get the color I wanted (dark cherry) but that was my choice. Despite the many bad reviews here, I decided to buy this product. I took a chance and I think I got pretty much what I expected. This entire cabinet is made from 1/2 inch thick chipboard (no MDF) and the back is regular heavy cardboard DIY furniture. When I unpacked it I found that the finish was worn in several places, the worst spot being of course on the top of the cabinet. Parts are packed face-to-face with no padding, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. A furniture pin can help here. When assembling the part, I found that the included screws had actually bent the chipboard where the screws went in, but they held. The instructions warn against using a power tool for assembly and they are right. You would just rip that thing apart if you did. Use a hand screwdriver. Also, be very careful when attaching the cardboard to the back. It would be easy to knock the nail out from the side if you didn't drive the nail into the middle of the board. the doors were heavy enough to tip an empty closet forward. The cabinet comes with a plastic bracket for wall mounting. Since it's so small, it's a pretty good idea, especially if you have kids. I use a filing cabinet so I put some thicker paper bags on the bottom shelf and that seems to weigh it down quite a bit. Of course you need to be able to put two units together, but you won't catch me doing it. You don't want to put anything very heavy on 1/2 inch chipboard shelves. Having just assembled it I have no idea how long the cabinet will last but as I won't be putting anything heavy in or on it and not opening or closing the doors very often I suspect it will suit my needs correspond to. . I intend to only use it for as long as I need to build something myself, but sometimes I'm not that good with building. If you take the time to build your closet and accept the fact that you're not buying an heirloom, this could work for you. If you don't look closely, it looks fine (after removing scuffs). I wouldn't expect it to hold up to rough or heavy use, but your mileage may vary.
