Like many others, my shower leaked after replacing this part. The leak was caused by a defective pressure equalizer (P/N 077171-0070A) behind it. Both parts can cause the same symptom. The American standard recommends replacing both parts together. For those who think the hot and cold got mixed up, loosen the set screw holding the locking ring, then use the knob to rotate the shaft 180 degrees. Tighten the retaining ring. Corrected.
