I've had this heater for two days now and it still smells when it's on. That's the smell you smell when you visit the hospital. I have no idea if it's the finish or the concrete the wires are embedded in. It's really punchy and appears to have about the same performance as the competing Eco-Heat product. It is thicker and heavier than the Eco-Head brand. Eco heaters tend to break down after about a year. I hope this strain doesn't do that and the smell goes away with use. The cracking problem appears to be design related. The fasteners do not allow for expansion and contraction of the body, which puts pressure on the concrete slab. As a result, the body cracks over time. My latest Eco-Heat literally broke in half.
