Can't tell what the overall effect is on the vinyl but my '90 Chevy K2500 looks like it's just detailed and I've been using this stuff for years and still no cracks. My truck has lived its life outdoors and the harsh sun here in the high desert is ruining all the vinyl...dashboard, console and doors. The vinyl actually takes on a white limestone look, and a few sprays and it looks like new...shiny and clean. Opinions vary on this product based on reviews but I have had my truck for 23 years now and in all the time I have used this product no damage appears to have been done although the vinyl does become brittle over time and I put a mat on the dashboard. so mine doesn't break. I'd say it's more of a repair than a protection as the application needs to be reapplied often to keep it looking good with the car sitting in the sun all the time...it lasts a lot longer for a car that's been used over time in it spends the garage. I pulled out the OEM floor mats because they were white rather than burgundy and considered replacing them, but I gave them a decent dose of this stuff and while it's not exactly new, they're pretty close... the picture shows one earlier and one after the other and for a few bucks it was a lot cheaper than a replacement. I recommend applying it only in the shade and on a cool surface.
