I bought them so I can have one for each family member. In an unscientific way, I tested a regular antenna up to 2.5 miles away (flat land with a few houses in between) and an extended antenna up to 4 miles away before losing the ability to hear the other person. Morse code will obviously run a little further. The included cable jack works well with Chirp software to output preset frequencies. Some cons: the two regular antennas are different sizes which makes me doubt QA testing, the distance with the regular antenna is basically the same as my established Baofeng brand radios (although their antenna is more compact and looks more solid) and chargers really need to come with a usb cable to work anywhere. Overall good value for money but I don't see the value compared to my trusty Baofengs other than the longer antenna. I was hoping for a better range with higher power! I haven't tried headphones or external microphones yet.
