Review on πŸ”§ Wool Felt Cotton Polishing Buffing Wheel Set - Rotary Tool Accessories for Watch and Jewelry Polishing - 50 Piece Kit by Patrick Locke

Great value for money, these buff tips hold up really well.

First off, if you're at all surprised that the little material hairs fly off a soft white cloth wheel (or one of those little parts) when you first spin it at high speed or beating/buffing hard or sharp edge areas, you haven't done much high speed polishing. Each of these style tips sheds plenty of fiber, and that's just the nature of the process. As soon as you turn the tool on, you'll see the looser fibers fly off the wheel and straighten out again when you touch the wheel with the loading strip. The only question is how long will they withstand the RPM and last after the load when pressed into the metal surface during polishing. All of these tips hold up pretty well and I was surprised at how well the yellow and white stack buffs can hold a deep, focused hold in a metal edge, even when pushed to the point where the diameter deviates from the rotation. Surprisingly difficult little things. The felt part gets stiff right after loading and doesn't shine as quickly as most felts, which is very cool. The yellow stack buff can really take a hit before wasting it and was able to remove some pretty deep surface flaws with the ultimate sticky blush compound. The white stack leaves an almost final polishing step even with a medium grit mix. Unsurprisingly, the white stack buff is the biggest shader. But you can get quite a bit of work done before it goes to waste. Pelleted and brushed wools flex well without falling apart and hold up well to melt on the joint, but have medium strength. Overall this is a very good deal for a product of this type and the bits hold up very well to normal use. With a good sticky blush mix, they give a very nice polished finish. Definitely strong enough to create a very nice painting effect. Just remember that if you've just buffed a crappy surface to a lustrous shine with high-speed buffing, you've also created one hell of a mess of fibers and blush dust in any unprotected or slightly unprotected area. ALWAYS wear safety goggles and a dust mask when sanding or polishing at high speeds. Fine dust and flying material can cause significant damage and/or injury so ALWAYS wear safety goggles and a dust mask when doing this work, even when using small tips like this one. Keep in mind that when you "buff" the metal, you are actually grinding the surface, but the goal is to keep the scratches as small in width as possible, so as not to create refraction, in order to achieve a high polishing depth. In this process, very fine metal particles fly through the air while fine metal particles form, creating those ultra-fine scratches. Breathing in these small particles can cause problems other than breathing problems. It can get into the bloodstream much like sweat fumes carry toxic metals that can build up in areas like the bone marrow. This is less likely to happen with polishing than with welding, but it's still possible. I didn't want to snub all the security guys with a product review lol. But these facts seem to be little known and I have quite a bit of experience in this process. Decided to share some of that knowledge here as it's the right place. That beat? Highly recommended! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ»
