NO rubber inside. I refused to buy their expensive plastic version, so I kept looking and found this one. I have to say I had my doubts. That's why I've always stayed with Rubbermaid. I took a chance and bought this one. Have I ever been surprised by the build quality of this Casabella shovel? You all know how long plastic lasts. They don't. But this one is different in the way they made it and its materials. It is strong and durable and the lip is very thin. So good I can pick up all the dust from drilling an anchor hole in the wall. Didn't even need a brush when looking to buy one, just a good dustpan that will last. But the brush is decent too, and I found myself reaching for it, and it works really well for thin things too. Result? The kind of woman who says "just Rubbermaid will do," I love this new dustpan and brush.
