I bought this to test before a trip this summer. I was finally able to test them last weekend. I may not have used them exactly how the manufacturer intended, but they worked exactly how I wanted them to. I squeezed out about 3/4 inch of the tube, cut it off, shook out 3 tabs and left the rest as is. Place them on a stack of polished magnesium rods. Each time he flashed and caught easily. I lit 4 fires on a pipe and the rest was enough for the 5th. If you're looking for something to catch a spark, they work perfectly. Just make sure you have another tinder to catch it, but that's Fire Building 101.
