Review on GROHE 45882000 Ceramic Cartridge - No Finish by Eduardo Murillo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good replacement part, not enthusiastic about Grohe.

When we were building the house I went a bit crazy and decided to use Grohe lighting throughout the house. I liked the design and thought they were top quality. Over time, even these expensive faucets began to leak. Replacement cartridges have proven to be very expensive (list price is around $50!) and the real problem is that they are quite difficult to replace. After replacing this valve, I had to completely remove the sink from the vanity because the cartridge at the bottom of the faucet was so rusty. Having changed several of them now, I found that this is a common mistake for all of them and is too much work for such a routine task. If I could go back in time and choose more traditional faucets, I would. Grohe may be cool, but it is typical of many German designers - too complex and damn expensive. If you need a replacement cartridge, make sure you select the correct one (right or left) and use the hose when installing. Seal the threads with tape so that the cartridge can be easily replaced after a few years.
