User @b737officeview I feel your pain. He mentioned that it will restart if there is a power failure. This is not entirely true. I noticed that if you keep turning it on, it won't connect to the network and you start flashing blue light. If you wait about 1 or 2 hours. finally it comes back and works fine. So big FYI. I use this for homekit with home helper. It works but you have to jump through hoops. I recommend keeping this thing on battery backup or it won't work for a few hours. has good range. It's installed in my pantry and works on all three garage doors, two in the front of the house and one in the back. It doesn't need to be placed near a garage door opener at all, just make sure it has decent WiFi coverage. He only seems to care about 2.4GHz 11ng WiFi. I put it about 4ft from a Unifi hotspot and it reports 54%-69dBm (LOL). I'm glad I can control my garage door locally with Homekit and block the cloud integration, but I can't give more than 4 stars just because the UI and setup is so bad. If you're looking for ways to control your smart home locally, this works, but block myqdevice dot com on your firewall as myq and amazon have nothing to do with it. how often do you use your garage door and how often do you go on vacation or what do you do with this data?
