I have 3 pools with different requirements. In my 55 gallon corner aquarium I added a large piece of driftwood with a plant growing out of it. After about 3 days, the water turned so yellow-brown that I could no longer see the back of the pool. It really was that bad! I did water changes but it was still yellow. So I ordered this because it was very good value for money, I liked the container (thought I could use the container to fill with bagged charcoal later. I noticed the water drained away in about 12 hours cleared after adding about 1 cup of charcoal to the canister filter (I put it in a new nylon sock and placed it on the bottom layer of the filter. After 36 hours the tank was crystal clear! red shrimp, 2 fish and 1 skillet), which was just looking a little yellow and that became clear as the day progressed. This tank has a bottom filter so I put the bag next to the top of the bubbler's life tube, it stopped the water from moving so I left it drop the bag in the back corner without forcing water and water still looks clear 4 gallons with a compartment for I added a filter bag on the back of the filter and this tank looks gu t out he has pea fritters, his snails and pygmy frogs (they get it!) snail remains, bloodworms and artemia .So I guess my point is that this stuff works in many types of tanks.
