Excellent noise cancellation with no silence

I have a 2006 Acura with a GTA car kit and the alternator whine while charging was extremely annoying. After reading the reviews I still had concerns about this device. 1) Does it work "backwards"? 2) Will it muffle the sound? So here's what I found: 1) It definitely works in reverse. Since the car kit requires me to plug my phone's output into the 'input' side of the unit, I really had no choice as to how to 'route' the signal. I immediately noticed a huge improvement. The howling is still there, but I have to turn the volume up to 30 to even hear it while playback is paused. Since I usually listen at 10-15, which is pretty loud for me, that's not a problem. It did what I needed, great, at idle no hum during silence between tracks, no hum during silence between tracks at 60+ mph. 2) This was a big issue for me as it was mentioned in several reviews. cut off the audio and killed the frequency response. The music was just as loud and with the 8 mile soundtrack as my test album the bass was exactly the same, deep and powerful. The highs were crisp and clear. This device did not muffle the sound at all. Only thing is the jack sleeve is a little thick to ensure it fits securely into the headphone jack on my phone with a case. So I have to remove the case to ensure a good connection. I almost docked a star for that, but that's not necessarily a shortcoming of the device. If you hear a loud squeaking noise when charging your phone and listening through the aux-in and have any doubts about this device, don't worry. It works and works great.
