Pays for itself with one use. Stretched a 10k gold engagement ring to fit better. I don't have a size gauge so can't tell for sure how much it stretched, maybe half a size. Roundness has also been restored. Obviously not for rings with stones or complicated weak spots. Comes with a nylon base which appears to be more durable than the wooden base pictured. YouTube videos show how to use it, but it's not hard to figure out just by looking at it. You need a mallet or small mallet or whatever to tap on it.
