Contrary to some reviews they actually lock like a regular vise. However, they do not lock beyond the clamping range, say 0-3 inches, like a traditional vise. I just want to let others know as I don't like bad reviews written by those who abuse the tool or go beyond its design. I had to put 4 starts because of an incomprehensible thread m12x1.75. T-nuts for this thread and a 5/8t slotted table are hard to find. The most common thread for this application is 1/2 x 13, and slot nuts are easy to find. I couldn't even find nuts for it on Amazon. Had to order the te-co brand as that is the only suitable nut available. For some reason M12t nuts are most commonly found in 9/16t slots.
