Despite the mixed reviews, I really like this plump sponge brush. It's a mix of foam and small scratch strips for stubborn dirt. I'm changing after two years. I didn't use it daily, only for glass milk bottles which I use year round for homemade kefir and in the summer for iced tea carafes. Cleaning strips are ideal for tea stains and milk proteins. I rarely use it for anything other than just hand washing glasses and mugs which we don't use very often. Since the core is metal and prone to rusting, after each use I rinse all the detergent off the sponge and wring it out as tightly as possible, then place it in a sponge holder, plump side up, to dry. To date there is no significant rust, I am replacing it as the blue stripes are worn and breaking off. I think if used extensively on pots and pans and stored without squeezing out excess water it would go bad very quickly. It all depends on how you intend to use/care for it, just like everything else helps determine its longevity. For glassware, this is a great little helper.
