Out of the package, these are really nice looking little clamps. The machining is very clean and well finished. Definitely nothing cheap-looking here. One thing to note is a couple of the headless hex screws, which appear to serve multiple functions for the assembly of these clamps, came loose. I tightened them down to be flush, so they weren’t left to wobble out over time. That was a slightly disappointing oversight, but certainly nothing seriously wrong.They clamp on 2 degrees, which is exactly what you need them to do for cabinet install. There is no play with the clamping action, so you do get a good, flush clamp. They are quite small, so extra functionality besides their advertised use is limited, but you could certainly use them to marry 1x2 pieces, which is admittedly a big stretch lol.Now comes the super annoying quirk. For some baffling reason, the primary clamping action is reverse-threaded. This alone is aggravating, but I could live with it and just chalk it up to a super-weird oversight? But you know what takes the annoyance to an all-new level? You may need prepare yourself for this nonsense: The secondary clamping action is not reverse-threaded. What the heck? They’ve gone and created clamps that will have you constantly screwing and unscrewing in forward and reverse, guaranteed to make what should be a mindless task into something you very much need to have yourself focused on. It’s baffling and, quite frankly, very annoying.I really do like the work that has been put into these and they are a neat, niche tool, but their decision to have both forward and reverse-threaded clamping action on the same tool is quite possibly the worst decision I’ve ever seen on a hand tool. Don’t get me wrong: I don’t want to sound mean or like I’m harping on it. It just doesn’t make any sense.I am going to keep the star count in the positive range, because they are well-made and they can certainly do the job, but honestly, I’m probably just going to send them back. Typically I just use some small trigger clamps with soft pads to do the same job these will. I’ll give these a couple tries - it really is only adding a few seconds each time with saying, "dang!” and reversing the direction, but still something the user shouldn’t have to do.
