These candles are a good size and look great in my candle holders. The "flame" flickers and can be switched on at the base or with the remote control. Each candle requires two batteries that are placed in a metal cylinder in the center of the candle and the battery lasts a long time! The body of the metal cylinder is made of wax, which gives the candles a realistic look. The "flame" is of course made of plastic. These candles are about the thickness of a regular sized conical candle. We can light candles on our table without worrying about melted wax on our tablecloths. And these candles make great mantels and sure Christmas decorations!
