This is a ball valve. Turn the knob and water will flow.
This unit is working properly. There are no metal splinters or other material going through my pipes. As far as I can tell , it doesn't poison the water and doesn't appear to turn the water into other substances.I haven't opened it to decipher the type of spell used to divert the flow in this way, but I'm glad it works After 4 months of use it appears to be working as expected with no signs of magical wear and tear.
