The extension cable comes in a reel with 9 ground clips to secure the cable to the ground - I didn't use any of these clips - I used 5 small strips of good quality High quality fiberglass reinforced packing tape. Before installing I ran an 8ft cable and hung it in a warm place for 24 hours to remove the loops so it lays flat. For Installation - I removed the original 4 foot sensor cable that came with Honeywell's RWD41 Water Defense water sensor and set it aside for future use with a second signal sensor. I scrubbed the floor around our indirect water heater to get the tape sticking and pulled the cord all the way around and secured it with 5 strips of fiberglass tape, one on each end and three evenly spaced 2 feet apart. The disadvantage of this cable, in addition to the need to remove the loops from the cable, is the cost - a bit expensive. I reused the 4ft sensor cable (I set it aside) on the second RWD41 by installing a GE 26191 4-wire duplex receptacle adapter in the cable's 6ft connector, which allowed me to connect a second sensor , which triggers an additional water detection alarm. 4 foot cable going to an 8 foot sensor.
