Review on ASUS VG259QM 24.5" 1920X1080 DisplayPort HDR Gaming Monitor, 280Hz, Flicker-Free, Pivot, Tilt, Height Adjustments by Gavin Schupbach

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best high refresh rate IPS monitors for competitive gaming.

I've had this monitor for a few weeks now and it's great so far. No dead pixels, stuck pixels and factory backlight. Pros - I did quite a bit of research before making this purchase and I can tell you that it's definitely worth the under $300 price tag. IMO, even at $400 this monitor would be worth the money. Colors worked right out of the box, no complaints although I'm not an expert when it comes to color accuracy. There is absolutely no backlight glare, which is typical for IPS panels. Although, maybe I just got lucky in that regard. It's also very bright, in fact I feel like a brightness above 60/70 would be too bright. Good quality stand, durable and surprisingly versatile. I put it where I want and it stays there. Response Time / Input Lag LOW! It has one of the best response times/input lag of any new "fast ips" monitor. It even rivals the response time/input lag of TN panels. At 280 Hz and 80 OD it is 1.7 ms. I personally prefer 240Hz at 60 OD, which of course you get after setting 240Hz in Windows. But if you can consistently hit 280+ FPS in the games you play, I would recommend 280Hz at 80 OD. I haven't used ELMB so can't speak about it but I've heard good things about it. I also read that it can run at 240Hz at 10 bits. minuses. The only negative I can think of is the joystick. While this is GREAT and makes menu navigation extremely easy; it looks a bit cheap. I haven't had any problems with it, but I'm concerned about how it will hold up over time. If, like me, you play a lot of competitive games and enjoy a good picture without ghosting or blurring, I highly recommend this monitor. .
